“Together we can work on recognizing triggers and developing more effective responses to them. I believe you are the expert on your life. I encourage you to take the lead in our work together.”
From time to time, everyone experiences emotions or behaviors that interfere with living our lives to the fullest. Whether the result of life stressors, situational factors or chronic mental/ physical health conditions, it is possible to cope with whatever you are facing. Together we can work on recognizing triggers and developing more effective responses to them. I believe you are the expert on your life. I encourage you to take the lead in our work together. My role is to listen to you and to collaborate with you on a plan of action to achieve your goals.
In addition to offering short-term, solution-focused therapy for specific issues, I provide ongoing therapy services to clients with severe, chronic mental health diagnoses (including depression, schizophrenia and personality disorders). I have specialized training in crisis intervention, suicidal ideation and self-injurious behaviors. Engaging with reticent clients and clients with complex issues are also strengths of mine. I treat all clients with compassion, directness and, when appropriate, a sense of humor.
I am passionate about making therapy accessible to everyone, and welcome diversity into my practice. I have experience working with the LGBTQ, disability and Somali communities, as well as clients from diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
I believe prompt access to help when you need it is critical to getting through life’s tough times. I offer flexible hours and crisis appointments for both new and established clients. I strive to schedule appointments within 24 hours for clients in crisis. If you are in crisis, I will assess your immediate needs and collaborate with you to develop a short-term plan that may include referrals to other services. If you are not in crisis, I am usually able to offer you an appointment within 2 or 3 business days.
It's our range of experience that helps our clients benefit from treatment that's as unique as they are.
