Kathleen Anderson

Licensed Professional Counselor & Certified Rehabilitation Counselor

It takes strength and courage to seek counseling. Coping with life’s transitions and chronic health issues can be stressful. Often, it is difficult to find a knowledgeable, empathetic and attentive resource to help you sort through these issues. I have expertise in helping people find peace amongst the chaos. In doing so, I draw on both 30+ years of professional and personal experience.

Living with chronic pain, autoimmune disease, traumatic brain injury, chronic health conditions and disability, can be complicated. I will help you challenge thoughts that are not helpful and develop new ways to think about issues and find solutions.   We will work together to build new coping skills, process your feelings and address any anxiety or depression that may accompany your diagnosis. I am familiar with the myriad of feelings that can result from a diagnosis; feelings such as anger, isolation, powerlessness and betrayal. We will work together to find the greater meaning in this process and improve your outcomes by redefining the true focus of your disease or disability.

I enjoy providing services to adults that have various mental health concerns. I work with individuals, their spouse and families, and their care team, to help them better understand and manage their concerns. Together, we will build a therapeutic relationship that allows you to feel secure and empowered. My approach to therapy is person centered, strength based and solution oriented. I use many tools and approaches, depending on your specific circumstances.

There is a saying, “We were born to be alive”. Let’s get started living again by helping you reclaim your life.   I look forward to working with you.

Understanding our relational  approach can give you a sense of how psychotherapy can help. Unlike counseling and other types of therapy, it takes a perspective that’s both deeper and broader. By focusing on emotions, it seeks to discover hidden pieces of who you are and then to understand how those pieces fit together.
