Ann Kellogg

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

I provide services for adults and adolescents who are experiencing life-phase transitions, attachment issues, divorce, adjustment problems, and grief and loss.

I approach therapy with the understanding that individuals often feel constrained by their circumstances, but that within those constraints, lies profound and unearthed adeptness for either acceptance or change (or both). I am a believer that suffering deepens our life experience, and I draw upon the knowledge that building new constructs to improve life-phase situations has the potential to increase meaning in people’s lives and allow for greater understanding of the self in the world. I tend to take both a person-centered and solution-oriented approach when engaging with clients, and I strive to provide individuals with tools for self-empowerment and improved patterns of thinking and living via empathy, humor and respect. While able to explore root causes of issues, I also emphasize the importance of future orientation as it relates to personal growth and/or accurate perception of self.

I provide services for adults and adolescents who are experiencing life-phase transitions, attachment issues, divorce, adjustment problems, and grief and loss. I have experience in working with depression/anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, eating disorders, relationship issues, and general stress management, and often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills and am specially trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Understanding our relational  approach can give you a sense of how psychotherapy can help. Unlike counseling and other types of therapy, it takes a perspective that’s both deeper and broader. By focusing on emotions, it seeks to discover hidden pieces of who you are and then to understand how those pieces fit together.
