My approach to therapy is founded in the value of the therapeutic relationship. It is important that my clients feel heard and validated with a sense of security as they explore their experiences of both suffering and success.

My approach to therapy is founded in the value of the therapeutic relationship.  It is important that my clients feel heard and validated with a sense of security as they explore their experiences of both suffering and success.

I believe that each individual I have the honor to work with is an expert in their lives and my role is to help facilitate a joint process of exploring solutions, skills, and building existing strengths necessary to live more peacefully and authentically.  I function from a strength based approach and work hard to remove as much of the power differential that occurs in a helping relationship.

I have 10 years of experience in a variety of settings working with individuals and families.  I have extensive experience with adolescents and young adults and feel particularly humbled to join in the exploration of identity formation that occurs during these periods of development.

I consider my theoretical approach to be eclectic in that I utilize a variety of approaches to meet the individual needs of my clients, including, but not limited to, cognitive behavior therapy, trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy, trauma systems, internal family systems, attachment theory, and experiential techniques including mindfulness and awareness strategies.

I am also a certified holistic health coach and have worked with women around developing dietary and lifestyle practices that are sustainable and support the life they wish to live.  I integrate my knowledge of health and wellness into my therapeutic work as I value the importance of an integrated biological, psychological, social, and spiritual self.

Understanding our relational  approach can give you a sense of how psychotherapy can help. Unlike counseling and other types of therapy, it takes a perspective that’s both deeper and broader. By focusing on emotions, it seeks to discover hidden pieces of who you are and then to understand how those pieces fit together.
