Colleen Steppa

Licensed Graduate Social Worker

Congratulations for being brave enough to admit you need help and for making this first step towards improving your mental health. I believe every person already has in them what they need to heal, and my role is to offer an empowering, judgement-free zone that provides support for you to as you learn and grow.

I am a Licensed Graduate Social Worker and I work with adults, using a variety of approaches. I have experience working with young women, parents, and dealing with anxiety, depression, and intimate partner violence, but I enjoy problem-solving with all kinds of people and learning new skills. I consider myself a lifelong learner and appreciate the chance that providing therapy offers me to do that.

My hope is that you find, in therapy, a place where you can fully be yourself and explore what you need to feel well and whole in your everyday life. Therapy is a partnership, where the relationship that you and I build together helps you understand your needs and how you they are getting met in ways that either work or don’t work for you.

Understanding our relational  approach can give you a sense of how psychotherapy can help. Unlike counseling and other types of therapy, it takes a perspective that’s both deeper and broader. By focusing on emotions, it seeks to discover hidden pieces of who you are and then to understand how those pieces fit together.
