Now Accepting New Clients
Life is a “process”…not a “product.” It is ever evolving and changing. Some say life is essentially a series of momentary decisions that we make every day, one after the other.
Good decisions are self-promoting and result in personal validation, a feeling of well-being and accomplishment, and encourage us to move forward. Not-so-good decisions tend to be self-defeating, can be hurtful to ourselves and those we love, and leave us feeling unfulfilled and hopeless. Also, there are those forces acting on us that we have little or no control over, including childhood and family experiences and unconscious influences that helped shape our lives and our outlook on life.
My training is primarily in marriage and family therapy and relational enhancement therapy. I have extensive experience with treating adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues and their families. I also work with substance use disorders and addictions, including sex addiction, anxiety and panic disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, career counseling, and general phase of life problems.
My approach to working with clients is based on a developmental and systems perspective, focusing on the environmental, social, and relational circumstances impacting the client's difficulties. All problems occur within a social context and involve a person's relationships with various individuals in their life, including partners, family members, friends, and work colleagues.
My approach to therapy is solution-focused, emphasizing the existing strengths that people possess and identifying and developing additional strengths and new coping skills to help individuals make better personal, interpersonal, and professional decisions.
