John Healy

Ph. D., Licensed Psychologist

John brings over 20 years of professional insight and experience.

Using warmth and humor I help people understand themselves and the problems causing their distress. I facilitate awareness of emotions, behaviors, and relationships in order for individuals to make positive changes.

I have over 20 years experience working with a wide variety of issues, including adults struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, and difficult life transitions. I also see people struggling with addiction, LGBTQ issues, trauma, and problems with intimacy.

I incorporate several therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, CBT, narrative, and solution-focused therapy. My goal is to help you increase your self-awareness with which to make effective choices. I listen carefully, giving thoughtful and direct feedback. I offer professional insight while creating a supportive and safe environment in which to grow and develop fuller lives.

Understanding our relational  approach can give you a sense of how psychotherapy can help. Unlike counseling and other types of therapy, it takes a perspective that’s both deeper and broader. By focusing on emotions, it seeks to discover hidden pieces of who you are and then to understand how those pieces fit together.
