Kate West

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

I am an unpretentious, funny, “real” therapist who’ll work hard to completely understand you.

I am an unpretentious, funny, “real” therapist who’ll work hard to completely
understand you. This is because I want to get to the bottom of your suffering, but not
just that — I want you to face your strengths, too.

I’ll have a way of challenging you to examine the best and worst of yourself with
compassion and humor. And I’ll hunker down with you for as long as it takes, too. I
won’t rush you to “change.”

I take the long view, to be sure. That being said, I expect that you’ll walk out of our first
session feeling more hopeful. That’s what good therapy does – it instills hope
immediately. If you do not feel more hopeful after our first session, we’ll talk about it
and figure out if I am the right match for you. You deserve the right match.

Therapy is expensive and time-consuming. So, gol darn it, it should work! Ultimately, I
want you not to have to return to therapy because it will have been effective enough the
first time around.

I am looking forward to our first appointment.

Understanding our relational  approach can give you a sense of how psychotherapy can help. Unlike counseling and other types of therapy, it takes a perspective that’s both deeper and broader. By focusing on emotions, it seeks to discover hidden pieces of who you are and then to understand how those pieces fit together.
