Kristin Turner

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor & Dialectical Behavior Therapy Certified

My approach to therapy focuses on the whole person including thoughts, emotions, physical health and wellness, behaviors, environment and relationships.

My approach to therapy focuses on the whole person including thoughts, emotions, physical health and wellness, behaviors, environment and relationships. I am committed to working collaboratively with each individual to identify and work towards their personal life vision and a strong therapeutic relationship is key to beginning this process. I tend to be casual, laid back, direct, and value humor in sessions. I believe in being authentic and genuine with clients as I feel this creates an atmosphere that is caring, compassionate and free of judgement, where you feel comfortable being vulnerable and self-reflecting. I recognize the uniqueness in each client and tailor my approach to their individual needs. I emphasize empowering clients to take control of their lives and strongly believe if given the proper tools and resources, everyone is capable of persevering through life’s challenges and making positive change.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and have extensive experience working with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness including Borderline Personality Disorder, Psychosis/Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Major Depression. I also enjoy working with individuals transitioning out of jail or prison, those struggling with anger, as well as individuals experiencing everyday difficulties with life transitions, stressors and relationship difficulties. I have experience in inpatient and hospital settings as well as outpatient clinics and work with both teens and adults. I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and and incorporate these skills into my practice. I also practice from Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Person-Centered approaches. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and begin to make the changes you want to see in your life.

Understanding our relational  approach can give you a sense of how psychotherapy can help. Unlike counseling and other types of therapy, it takes a perspective that’s both deeper and broader. By focusing on emotions, it seeks to discover hidden pieces of who you are and then to understand how those pieces fit together.
