Lucy Grantz

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I am an Art Therapist and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a commitment to being in the growth process with my clients.

I am an Art Therapist and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a commitment to being in the growth process with my clients. Whether you come to see me for Art Therapy, talk therapy, or both, I am dedicated to working with you toward healing. I work with tweens, adolescents and adults who may be dealing with issues such as grief, trauma, anxiety, OCD or depression and are seeking more peace within. I also work with children, 8 and up, who have OCD

Art Therapy is a therapeutic modality for adults, adolescents and children that uses the creative process as a source of healing and self-discovery; to help express and unlock emotions. I am also trained in using exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety. ERP is a way to learn how to allow ourselves to experience thoughts and emotions that seem frightening. When we start to allow these thoughts and feelings they lose their grip and lighten our emotional load.

I work with adults and children from a base of mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of becoming aware of, without attaching to, thoughts and feelings that may interfere with living peacefully. By becoming more mindful we gain freedom from destructive patterns and engage with the world with greater well-being. I also use the work of Pia Mellody as a base for working with family of origin issues as they impact present-day struggles.

Understanding our relational  approach can give you a sense of how psychotherapy can help. Unlike counseling and other types of therapy, it takes a perspective that’s both deeper and broader. By focusing on emotions, it seeks to discover hidden pieces of who you are and then to understand how those pieces fit together.
