Mari Tankenoff

Licensed Psychologist

I am particularly interested in cultivating and sustaining total-person (mind-body-spirit) care, self-care, and wellness—especially in response to life changes and transitions, health issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, intimacy, sexuality, relationships, and work issues.

I am dedicated to human sustainability. I have an expansive, holistic, and inclusive perspective of humanity and the lived human experience. As a Licensed Psychologist since 1993, I have worked with individuals, couples, families, groups, and organizations motivated to experience well-being, improved relationships, inner peace, efficacy, empowerment, and flourishing. In response to life’s challenges, suffering, and transitions, therapy can offer powerful, transformative healing and forward movement.

Foundationally, I strive to create emotional safety for our work together, offering my wholeness of presence to meet your own.  My therapeutic approach is strengths- and solution-focused, always person-centered, collaborative, interactive, and theoretically eclectic. I have worked with global clients from all walks of life, flexibly providing individualized therapeutic approaches to meet everyone’s unique self and situation. I am particularly interested in cultivating and sustaining total-person (mind-body-spirit) care, self-care, and wellness—especially in response to life changes and transitions, health issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, intimacy, sexuality, relationships, and work issues.

As a systems thinker-doer, I see the human being as a complex and valued system. I am committed to both internal process and actionable outcome—and nothing is more fulfilling than clients realizing and experiencing their goals. In addition to my clinical background, I hold a PhD in Organizational Systems and Sustainable Leadership, am a compassion researcher-practitioner, and a Coach Training Alliance (CTA) Certified Coach. With a sharp mind and deep heart, I view my role as a sacred responsibility, spiritual-scientific-cognitive-intuitive art form, and deep honor. I am a catalyst on your behalf, and you are not alone. Welcome—and I look forward to working together.

Understanding our relational  approach can give you a sense of how psychotherapy can help. Unlike counseling and other types of therapy, it takes a perspective that’s both deeper and broader. By focusing on emotions, it seeks to discover hidden pieces of who you are and then to understand how those pieces fit together.
