Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

What is most important to me, as a clinician, is providing care that is rooted in equitable treatment, inclusiveness, and mutual respect for all clients and families.

What is most important to me, as a clinician, is providing care that is rooted in equitable treatment, inclusiveness, and mutual respect for all clients and families.  I believe that everyone deserves to feel that they are important; that they matter.  I welcome clients and families from all communities, with an open mind and understanding nature.

As a trained Adlerian therapist, my work is rooted in the need to understand individuals within their social context and the conviction that the highest criteria of mental health and well-being is not only a feeling of human connectedness, but also a willingness to contribute to the welfare of others in society.

I have been a practicing therapist for 30 years and have worked in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, halfway and transitional houses, walk-in counseling, and family violence shelters.  I have experience in treating Eating Disorders, Substance Abuse, ADHD (child and adult), PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Personality Disorders, Bi-Polar Disorder, and Prostitution Recovery.

I especially enjoy working with children/adolescents and their families.  I incorporate a variety of therapy approaches, including:  psychodynamic and family systems therapies, play therapy, art therapy, feminist therapy, narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectic Behavioral therapies, and Solution-Focused therapy.

Flexible hours and crisis appointments are available for new and established clients.

Understanding our relational  approach can give you a sense of how psychotherapy can help. Unlike counseling and other types of therapy, it takes a perspective that’s both deeper and broader. By focusing on emotions, it seeks to discover hidden pieces of who you are and then to understand how those pieces fit together.
