Katyana Craven
MFT Student Intern
She/Here/Hers
Locations: The Lakeside Center
Katyana is a Marriage and Family Therapy Student Intern. She has a passion for helping others feel safe, heard, and learn to live well. She believes that relationships and connection are vital to the human experience, and she is happy to help people navigate the challenges that come along with this. Katyana values creating a safe, welcoming, and healing space for individuals from all walks of life. As she is part of the queer community herself, all individuals who identify as LGBTQIA2S+ are more than welcome in her sessions. As a biracial therapist, Katyana understands the complexities of navigating multiple cultural identities. She provides an affirming, culturally responsive space and welcomes clients of color.
Katyana takes a gentle and collaborative approach to therapy, leading with empathy and curiosity. While she specializes in Narrative Therapy and Bowenian Family Therapy, Katyana ensures the client remains the expert on their life and works collaboratively with them. Katyana is passionate about working with young adults and teens, the LGBTQIA2S+ community, couples, and families. She is interested in working with clients who have experienced trauma, specifically in the areas of religious, multi-generational, as well as Adverse Childhood Experiences. She also helps individuals and couples navigate the daily stressors of anxiety, depression, panic disorder, adjustment disorders, OCD, and ASD.
When Katyana is not studying or working one of her two jobs, she will likely be found outside (ideally by a body of water), either with friends, crafting, or reading a book! She highly values self-care practices, which for her include spending time with loved ones, connecting with nature, and laughing as much as possible.
Katyana is working under the licensed supervision of Melissa Anderson, LMFT, LADC, while completing her graduate internship program in marriage and family therapy.
